Richard Dean Thompson, 69, Cloverdale, passed away on March 3, 2013 at the Richard L. Roudebush Medical Center, Indianapolis.

He was born on Nov. 20, 1943 in Indianapolis and was the son of the late Clifford Earl and Nora Ida (Rooker) Thompson.

He married Karon A. (Lange) Thompson on Sept. 16, 1967, and she survives.

He is also survived by his sons, Richard Dean Thompson Jr. and wife Tammy, Cloverdale, Robert D. Thompson and fiancée Bobbie, Greencastle, and Ryan D. Thompson, Cloverdale; his sisters, Ida Mae Guy, Plainfield, Phyllis Irene Clark, Plainfield, and LaDonna Sue Clark and husband Gerald, Centerville; his grandchildren, Danielle Francies, Derrick Thompson, Richard Cole Thompson, Haley Thompson, Madison Thompson, Mason Thompson, Tara Bell, Kelsey Dyer, Whitney Ray, Ariel Higgins and Hunter Higgins; his great-grandchildren, Brooklet Bell, Kale Francies and James Dyer IV; and his mother-in-law Viola Lange, Danville.

He was a retired truck driver for Roadway and was a veteran of United States Marines Corps, serving during Vietnam.

Memorial services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 8 at the Cloverdale United Methodist Church, 364 W. Robert Weist Ave., Cloverdale. Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. until service time at the Cloverdale United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl Melvin Thompson, Norman Earl Thompson and John Edward Thompson.
