Greencastle Tiger Cubs win WCC middle school wrestling tournament

The Greencastle Middle School wrestling team won the West Central Conference tournament on Saturday, tallying 306.5 total points and winning four weight classes.

Cloverdale was second with 279 and two wins and North Putnam third with 273 and four wins.

South Putnam (198, four wins) was fifth.

Monrovia (fourth place) won six weight classes and Cascade (sixth place) won one.

Winning weight classes for Greencastle were: Keaton Boswell, 80; Cauy Thomas, 85; Dylon Wood, 120; and Derek Ummel, 135.

Champions for Cloverdale were Michael Anderson, 115, and Jordan Berardi, 130.

North Putnam champions included: Jarrek Montgomery, 75, Damon Attkison, 100, Jacob Plessinger, 105, and Jake Powell, 140.

The class champions for South Putnam were Kieffer Vittetow, 90, RJ Speedy, 125, Kyle Hall, 220, and John-Luke McGuff, 285.

The WCC tournament also had "B" competition in a number of classes.

Local "B" winners included Isaiah Kimes (NP, 120), Ethan Tuggle, Kasey Smotherman and Jaydon Workman (Greencastle, 95, 110 and 115, respectively), Jesse Robinson and Trey Farmer (SP, 165 and 220) and Joey Routh, Hunter Hoffa and Jeffery Jurgens (Cloverdale, 70, 85 and 145.
