Red Cross month

In a joint proclamation by the City of Greencastle and Putnam County, March was recently declared Red Cross Month in the city and county. Putnam County Commissioners (seated from left) David Berry, Nancy Fogle and Don Walton, along with Mayor Sue Murray (standing, left) made it official with their signatures. They were joined at the signing by Red Cross volunteers Kathie Skeel and Ken Heeke. During 2012, the local Red Cross assisted 10 families after fires for a total of $5,261, as well as assisting 17 individuals. The chapter also provided service to the armed forces 23 times and performed 31 disaster training classes in schools.
