LaMar Franklin Sears, 91, of Middletown, originally of Putnam County, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013 at St. Vincent Regional Health Center, Anderson.

He was born in Limedale on Aug. 19, 1921, the son of Harold and Beulah Toney Sears.

He was a graduate of Greencastle High School and served in World War II in the U.S. Army in Normandy, Northern France, Central Europe, Rhineland and Ardennes.

He held the rank of Technician Fourth Grade.

He was a skilled meat cutter for most of his life, working at the Harvest Market in Middletown as well as Emge in Anderson.

LaMar married Katherine Dennis Sears on April 2, 1942, and she survives.

He was a member of the Middletown Lions Club, Middletown Conservation Club, Middletown Bass Club, Fall Creek and Alexandria Gun Club, seved on the Fall Creek Township Advisory Board and led the Explorers Boy Scouts for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Stanley, Leland and Floyd; two sisters, Fern Rose Clark and Maxine Maguire; two grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine Dennis Sears of Anderson; four children, Dennis Gooding (Karen) of Anderson, Bonita Hanson (Dean) of Middletown, Judy Martt and Mary Sears of Middletown; nine grandchildren, David and Denise Hanson, Debbie Vanasdal, Donna (Caleb) Covey, Chad (Kim) Malloy, Joe (Laura) Gooding, Jimmie and Bonita Martt, and Margret Martt (Quentin); 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, March 28 at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown, with Pastor Marty Ballard officiating. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery in Middletown.
