U.S. 36 bridge over Raccoon Lake restricted to one lane beginning today

BELLMORE -- Traffic on the U.S. 36 bridge over Cecil M. Harden Lake (Raccoon Lake) will be restricted to one lane at a time beginning today.

Crews from Schutt-Lookabill Co. will be performing the $2.2 million bridge deck replacement project, with work set to continue through Sept. 30.

A temporary traffic signal will be in place through September.

Upon completion of the deck replacement, the plan is to paint the bridge next year with a completion date of June 2014.

The work schedule is subject to change in the event of inclement weather. INDOT reminds motorists to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone.
