Museum exhibit to celebrate history of Relay for Life effort

The Putnam County Museum has announced the opening of the Relay for Life exhibit honoring the past 16 years of Relay for Life in Putnam County

The exhibit will open this Saturday, April 6 with a special Relay for Life fundraiser open house from noon to 2 p.m.

Relay for Life is a fundraising event for the American Cancer Society that occurs in cities all across America to raise money to eradicate cancer.

More than one million people are diagnosed with cancer each year in the United States. There are more than 70 types of cancer, and each stride taken at Relay for Life events hopes to bring finding a cure one step closer.

Nationally, Relay for Life is in its 28th year, however, this will be the 17th year Putnam County has hosted a Relay for Life event.

This year's event is scheduled for Saturday, April 27 at DePauw University's Blackstock Stadium.

The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 1-4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is located at 1105 N. Jackson St. in Greencastle. Admission is free.
