CLOVERDALE -- Senior Katt Raisor's walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning drove in junior Adri Patterson to help the Cloverdale softball team beat Owen Valley 6-5.

The Clovers (1-2) and Raisor picked up their first win of the season. Raisor threw a complete game, allowing eight hits and striking out four.

The Clovers rallied behind the loss of freshman third baseman Lauren Patterson, who appeared to injure her right ankle as she was thrown out at home plate in the fourth inning.

She was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.

Her drive to right field scored to runs to tie the game and, after a pair of errors, it appeared she had a chance to score herself on the play. Her leg folded under her and she lay motionless for several minutes before being evaluated and carried off the field.

The Clovers added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 5-2 lead, but errors in the top of the seventh allowed the Patriots to tie the game.

CHS responded, putting together another rally in the seventh.

With one out, senior Bradanne Toney walked for the fourth time in her four plate appearances.

Junior Adri Patterson hit a double to centerfield, but Toney was gunned down at the plate, which CHS coach Brian Knapp said was an overaggressive decision by him.

The next batter, junior Rebekah Jordan, drew a walk, putting runners on first and second with two outs and bringing Raisor to the plate.

Her base hit to center field drove in Adri Patterson and allowed the Clovers to escape with the win.

Cloverdale's win came after a pair of losses earlier this week to No. 1 South Putnam and Knapp said it was nice for his squad to finally start to taste victory after such a tough early draw.

The Clovers will return to action Friday at Clay City beginning at 4:30 p.m.
