Organizations partner for Clean City Month 2013

The Greencastle Civic League along with multiple organizations will come together to clean up the city of Greencastle for Clean City Month 2013.

Clean city month will kick off on April 13 with a community clean up at Robe Ann Park from 12-3 p.m. Community members are invited to join in the clean up and should wear work clothes.

Additionally, DePauw University will celebrate Earth Week beginning this week with a number of events that are free and open to the public.

The Prindle Institute will host a Symposium "Cool Talk about a Hot Topic: The Ethics of Communicating about Climate Change" on April 9-11. Jane Goodall will deliver an Ubben Lecture on April 17 at 8 p.m. in the Neal Fielddhouse, which is located within DePauw's Lilly Physical Education and Recreation Center. The Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 26. This event will bring new trees to Robe-Ann Park, Big Walnut Sports Park and Albin Pond Trail.

Clean City Month will conclude with Putnam County Tox-Away Day sponsored by West Central Solid Waste District on May 18 from 8 a.m. -- 1 p.m. at the Putnam County Fairgrounds. Community members are encouraged to collect toxic materials and properly dispose of them at the fairgrounds that day.
