WAVELAND -- The North Putnam boys' golf team was able to put its first mark in the win column after shooting a 171 against Turkey Run and Rockville at Turkey Run on Monday night. The three-way meet was the first regular season meet for all three schools this season.

Austin Judy, a freshman, was low man for the Cougars shooting a 40; Mason Asher, a junior, followed with a 42.

Junior Jake Smith shot a 43 and sophomore Danny Smith carded a 46 to score 171.

"Going into the meet tonight, I knew with the vast improvement of our experienced players and the potential of our new players, we would probably do very well," North Putnam coach Linda Patrick said.

Patrick was very pleased with the outcome for the night. It is tough playing a difficult course on a nice day, let alone on a windy, gusty day like Monday.

Even with the gusty winds, most players faired well with their drives and quickly realized that the short game was going to be a critical part of this meet.

On Tuesday night the Cougars continued to streak, beating Monrovia at Deer Creek, 174-216. Danny Smith led the charge with a 43, followed by Austin Judy and Jon Willard with a 44.

Rounding out the Cougars with a 46 was Jake Smith. The NPHS had trouble with the windy conditions and the slow greens on the night and look to rebound Saturday at the Danville Invite.

* Daniel Moore, MON, 43

* Danny Smith, NP, 43
