Friday, April 12, 2013

The Greencastle boys' golf team got quality scoring from its top-five players and outmatched host West Vigo with a 153-222 win on Thursday.

"Alec (Davis), Luke (Brotherton) and Jake (Buis) had good, solid rounds," GHS coach Steve Paquin said. "They were able to overcome the weather conditions and play excellent golf."

Davis and Brotherton each shot a 37 and Buis a 39.

Wataru Otaki (40), Tanner Dean (44), Justin Baxter (46), Carl Basile (46) and Jonah Stevens (63) also took the course for Greencastle on the cold, rainy evening.

West Vigo's best scorer, Nick Leek, shot a 47.

"We continue to get better in all phases of the game: driving, iron play, chipping and putting," Paquin said.

Greencastle returns to the course on Saturday at Edgewood at 11 a.m.
