ELLETTSVILLE -- The Greencastle golf team picked up an impressive tournament win on Saturday, besting the field at Edgewood with a first place finish at the nine team event.

The Tiger Cubs' 322 was eight strokes ahead of second-place Mitchell and nine better than Owen Valley.

Junior Luke Brotherton led GHS with a 74, which tied for the tournament's best.

"(We had) good playing from our top four players on a very difficult day to score," GHS coach Steve Paquin said. "We played the ball down for the first time this season. The lies that the players had were difficult from the recent rains and lack of warm weather, making all phases of playing less than ideal."

Tanner Dean scored an 80, followed by Alec Davis' 81, Jake Buis' 87 and Wataru Otaki's 94.

Dean's was his best scoring output of the season.

"Jake continues to learn and is getting valuable experience playing on the varsity level," Paquin said.

The Tiger Cubs return to the course against Southmont at Windy Hill on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
