Clovers, Eagles split three-teamer
Cloverdale and South Putnam's track and field teams split a three-way meet with Owen Valley Monday night.
In the girls' meet, the Clovers defeated the Eagles and Patriots 60-50-46.
Paige Gruener and Claudia Monnet won two events each for the Clover girls. Gruener won the 100-meter dash and hurdles while Monet won the 800- and 3200-meter runs.
Amillia Nally won the 1600-meter run, while Cloverdale's 4x100 and 4x800 meter relay teams picked up wins.
Ariel Higgins and Leanna Masters picked up a pair of wins for the Eagles. Higgins won the 200-meter dash and 300-meter hurdles while Masters won the shot put and discus events. Deborah Cheatham recorded the other South Putnam victory in the high jump.
South Putnam won the boys' meet over second place Owen Valley and Cloverdale 63-56.5-47.5
The Eagles recorded wins from Berndt Freeman in the 1600-meter run, Klayton Vittetow in the high jump, Hunter Barr in the 800-meter run, Matt Allen in the 3200-meter run and Ryan Chestnut in the shot put. South Putnam's 4x800 relay team also recorded a win.
Cloverdale picked up three wins on the day. Wade Warren won the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles while Bret Brumfield won the 400-meter dash.
