Virginia L. Harbison, 79, of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Franciscan St. Elizabeth at Crawfordsville.

She was born April 28, 1933 at Marshall, Ind., to Roy and Lucille Moore Jarvis.

She was a member of the Russellville Community Church, Alamo Order of Eastern Star and the Montgomery County Teachers Association.

She graduated in 1951 from Russellville High School in a class of 10 females. She then graduated for Indiana State in 1954 with a degree in education.

She was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and she and her husband hosted them for 50 years at their Russellville farm.

She taught school for 31 years. She started the first South Montgomery Schools kindergarten. She named the Southmont Mounties.

She had a lifetime love for music and her church. She loved to travel and during 58 years she visited 48 states.

On June 9, 1954 she married Lowell Harbison at Russellville, and he survives.

Other survivors include a son, David Harbison of Carmel; a daughter, Beth (Tim) Hollabugh of Bryan, Ohio; and two grandsons, Tayler and Jacob.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday April 22 at Russellville Community Church. Revs. Cathy and Jim Elliott will officiate.

Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Burial will be at Hebron Cemetery at Russellville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Russellville Community Church or Montgomery County Community Foundation.
