'Miller Life' Relay for Life team donating to PCH Cancer Center

The "Miller Life" Relay for Life team, headed by Jean Miller, has a special passion and talent it is currently sharing with the Putnam County Hospital Cancer Center.

As a way to raise money for Relay for Life, the Miller Life team hand-makes pillowcases, using an assortment of beautiful material that would appeal to everyone from kids, to sports fans, to gardeners.

The team participates in community events, such as fairs and celebrations, to sell these handcrafted pieces for $10.

However, the Miller Life team has agreed to donate a pillowcase to the PCH Cancer Center for every donation made to their team of at least $5. When pillowcases are received, the Cancer Center will distribute a pillowcase to each one of its patients.

The Miller Life team was brought together in 2009 by JD Miller. He was battling cancer at the time and had a true passion in the fight against this horrible disease. He lost his battle on Dec. 26, 2009.

However, his passion and strength was left behind with his family and friends to continue to find the cure and support Relay for Life, scheduled this year for noon to midnight Saturday, April 27 at the DePauw University Indoor Tennis and Track Center.

The Miller Life team wants to give a little bit of comfort and hope to anyone that has to deal with this horrible disease. Its members hope that even this small gesture might brighten a patient's difficult day.

"These pillowcases are so colorful and fun," Rhonda McCammack, Putnam County Hospital Cancer Center manager, said. "They will certainly bring some cheer to patients who are going through some rough times. Many thanks to the Miller Life Relay team and donors for thinking of our local cancer patients."
