McCloud to host Kite Day program

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

The McCloud Nature Park will host a program on kites, not the kind made of paper or plastic, but the species of kite that is related to eagles, hawks and harriers. The program will be held on Saturday, April 27 and begin at 2 p.m. from the Nature Center.

Participants will learn about these members of the falcon family, including what makes them such effective hunters. Then everyone is invited out into McCloud's kite habitat to try to spot one of these hovering diurnal birds of prey. This free program is designed for all ages, and will last approximately 90 minutes.

McCloud Nature Park is operated by Hendricks County Parks and Recreation and is located five minutes south of North Salem at 8518 N. Hughes Road.

Admission is always free and the park is open from dawn to dusk daily. The Nature Center's hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m.
