INDIANAPOLIS -- Phoenix Closures in Greencastle has received a WorkOne Achievement Award for partnering with WorkOne to create employment opportunities for local Hoosiers.

The award was presented in a ceremony at the Indiana Statehouse.

Phoenix Closures is a full-service manufacturing firm specializing in injection-molded closures. In 2011, Phoenix Closures purchased an abandoned automotive manufacturing facility in Greencastle and retooled the entire site for the production of food-grade packaging.

During the extensive renovation, WorkOne was able to offer the use of office space to conduct the important tasks needed to get the plant staffed and up and running.

Phoenix Closures was able to use Indiana Career Connect to post their open positions, WorkOne office space for pre-employment testing, interviews, the first round of new hire orientation training and the On-the-Job Training program.

Since then, Phoenix Closures has hired more than 45 full-time employees, and plans to use WorkOne hiring services as it adds equipment and personnel to former Oxford Automotive facility.

"Utilizing WorkOne services, Phoenix Closures has hired 45 Hoosiers to date, resulting in positive economic growth for Putnam County," said Scott B. Sanders, commissioner of the Department of Workforce Development. "This relationship will create success in the community and the state for years to come."

Twelve awards were presented to employers who partner with WorkOne for their contribution to growing Indiana's economy and commitment to their community.

Twelve individuals were also presented with WorkOne Achievement Awards for outstanding accomplishments while participating in the workforce development system.

An individual and employer were also presented awards for their participation in the Hoosier Initiative for Re-Entry (HIRE) program. The HIRE program is a collaborative effort between WorkOne, the Indiana Department of Corrections and participating Indiana employers to educate, train and successfully transition eligible ex-offenders from incarceration back into society and employment.
