Take It Back

Thursday, May 2, 2013
Friendly faces and no questions greeted participants in Saturday's Drug Take Back Day sponsored by local law enforcement agencies and the Drug Enforcement Agency and hosted by Greencastle High School. More than 100 cars drove through to drop off unused, unwanted and expired medications. The program, designed to help prevent prescription drug abuse, now has a new partner. While a police officer formerly had to drive the medications to the east side of Indianapolis for disposal, they will now be incinerated locally at Buzzi Unicem. Helping with Saturday's effort were (from left) Greencastle Police Chief Tom Sutherlin, Greencastle Schools director of transportation and maintenance Dan Green, Mary Williams, Sheriff's Department Col. Tom Helmer and GHS Principal Russ Hesler.
