Eagles' takes two from Tiger Cubs

The South Putnam softball team swept a double-header at Greencastle on Tuesday. The Eagles won the first game 11-0 and the second game 4-0.

Senior Jenna Jones led the Eagles in game one. She went 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, six RBIs and two runs scored.

Nikki York was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Brooke Cundiff had a triple, two runs scored and an RBI and Mattie Varvel had three RBIs.

Ashlee Gibson threw a complete game for the Eagles, allowing four hits. She was also 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored.

In game two, Varvel threw a complete game for SPHS. She faced the minimum 21 batters and struck out five. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and RBI.

Jones hit her third home run of the day and added a single. Kenzie Trisler also homered.

The Eagles (14-4, 8-2 WCC) wrapped up its conference schedule and has the rest of the week to prepare for Saturday's county tournament game.

SPHS faces Cloverdale at the Putnam County Tournament at Greencastle High School at 11:30 a.m.
