Celebrate 4 committee seeks bands to battle on July 4

Monday, May 13, 2013

The Celebrate 4 committee is in full swing planning events for this year's Fourth of July Independence Day celebration.

A new event added to this patriotic day is the Fourth of July Battle of the Bands competition. The committee is looking for bands to take the stage and entertain this year's crowd of all ages.

During the Fourth of July Battle of the Bands, each selected band will perform for 15 minutes. Every band is encouraged to entertain with "cover songs" or "originals." All music should be especially selected with a family-friendly event in mind.

The Fourth of July Battle of the Bands will take place from noon to 7 p.m. on July 4 at Robe-Ann Park in Greencastle.

To enter the selection process, interested bands should submit a demo with three songs and their contact information to Greg Hedge of Greg's Audio Support.

He may be reached at Greg@GregsAudioSupport.com or via Celebrate 4, P.O. Box 607, 1 N. Locust St, Greencastle, IN 46135. Attn: Battle of the Bands.

Demos and contact information must be received no later than 4 p.m. Thursday, May 30. Band finalists will be notified by Thursday, June 13.

If selected there will be a $25 entry fee due the day of the event.

The Fourth of July Battle of the Bands will be judged by a panel of three judges.

The winning band will receive a cash prize plus return to the stage at 7:45--8:15 p.m. to open for the day's headline act, Phillip Steven and the Open Road.

There are limited time slots available, so band members are urged to respond quickly and submit a demo for a chance to win.
