Monday, May 20, 2013

The Cloverdale baseball team tied a school record for wins in a single season with an 11-1 victory at Eminence on Friday.

The Clovers' 20th win of the year was earned by senior Justin Wilson, who is now one away from the single-season record for wins by a pitcher.

Wilson also led Cloverdale at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a double.

He had six strikeouts, allowed three hits, no walks and no earned runs.

Junior Kade Schroer came on to close out the game in the fifth and final inning.

Schroer had two strikeouts.

Freshman Brayden White also had a big day at the plate for Cloverdale. He was 2-for-2 with a double.

Seniors Austin Mannan and Cody Carter, juniors Tyler Carter and Schroer and sophomore Brantson Scott each had a hit.

Cloverdale will have one more chance before sectionals begin to set a new school-record on Monday when it hosts Turkey Run.
