Rex W. Marlatt

Rex W. Marlatt, 84, of rural Frankfort, died at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Mulberry Health & Retirement Community, where he had lived since July 2012.

Born Sept. 9, 1928 in Clinton County, he was the son of Louis W. and Mabel E. (Shay) Marlatt

He married Mildred Coyner on Sept. 5, 1950 at the Mulberry Methodist Church and she preceded him in death on Jan. 26, 2011.

Mr. Marlatt was a 1946 graduate of Little Jeff High School, attended Purdue University and was a lifelong Clinton County resident. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served state side during the Korean War.

Rex was a farmer, self-employed welder, Clinton Prairie school bus driver for 34 years and also drove a bus for the Mulberry Lutheran Home for seven years.

He was a member of the Antioch Church, where he was a former Sunday school teacher, deacon, trustee and sang in the choir for more than 50 years. He was also a licensed pilot.

Rex was a caring, loving, hardworking man and his family was very important to him.

Survivors include son Michael W. (Brenda) Marlatt of Greencastle; daughter SueAnn (Rob) Stinson of rural Frankfort; three grandchildren, Seth (Cassandra) Marlatt of Churubusco, Nikki (Jeremiah) Julian of Lafayette and Kody (Curtis) Miller of New Richmond; and two great-granddaughters, Sidney and Mackenzie Julian.

He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 25 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Visitation will be Friday, May 24 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park.
