County Jail

At 8:35 a.m. Thursday, Douglas Brian Sharpee, 21, Greencastle, was booked into the Putnam County Jail for theft and a probation violation.

City Police

A Coatesville man was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated at 7:19 p.m. Thursday.

Officer Eric Vaughan stopped Tony Tomblin, 50, on Madison Street at the Washington Street intersection. Tomblin registered at .131 percent blood alcohol content on the portable breath test.

He was later booked into the Putnam County Jail.

* Reserve officer Ivan Troy issued one ticket on Thursday evening.

At 11:45 p.m. Ian McQueen, 23, Clayton, was cited for 60 mph in a 40 mph on Veterans Highway.

Sheriff's Department

* At 5:26 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, Stephen J. Firestone, 55, Cloverdale was traveling southbound in a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 on U.S. 231 and stopped at a traffic signal at Stardust Road.

While at the traffic signal, Rosalyn J. Ott, 55, Colorado Springs, Colo. was following behind Firestone in a 2007 Kia Spectra.

Ott told Chief Deputy Tom Helmer that she looked up and observed Firestone stopped and she applied her brakes. However, she was unable to avoid rear-ending Firestone.

A witness who was traveling northbound on U.S. 231 also advised Helmer that Ott was traveling at a high rate of speed as she approached.

Ott later complained of chest pain due to the seatbelt and airbag deploying, but signed a medical release offered by Operation Life and refused medical attention.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

Cloverdale Volunteer Fire Department also was on scene.

* At 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, Andrew Genote, 25, Fillmore was traveling north in a 1997 Jeep Wrangler on County Road 525 East just north of State Road 240.

Genote told Lt. Donnie Pettit that while driving he fell asleep causing him to lose control of the vehicle. He then travled off the Westside of the roadway and struck a power pole.

The vehicle sustained front-end damage, which was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.
