Tiger Cubs golfers wrap up regular season with win against Eagles

With sectional play approaching next week, the Greencastle and South Putnam boys' golf teams squared off in a preparatory 18-hole match on Tuesday.

The Tiger Cubs came out on top at their home course, winning 310-420.

GHS junior Alec Davis was medalist, shooting an even-par 70.

"Alec Davis had an outstanding round," GHS coach Steve Paquin said.

Luke Brotherton finished just behind his teammate, shooting a 72, followed by the remaining GHS golfers, Tanner Dean (79) and Jake Buis (89).

Brotherton's round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-five seventh.

South Putnam's low score was an 86 by sophomore Derek Chestnut.

Justin Berry shot 100, Austin Query 113 and Jimmy Rutter 121.

The Tiger Cubs wrapped up their regular season with a 16-1 meet record. They also won the Putnam County Tournament, West Central Conference Tournament and two other tournaments.

Sectional play is on Monday, June 3 at Crawfordsville Municipal Golf Course. Players begin teeing off at 8:45 a.m.
