County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County jail recently.

* At 10 a.m. on Fridday Amy Letrice Murphy, 29, Roachdale, was charged with probation violation.

At 12:35 p.m. Stephen Eugene Seketa, 33, Greencastle was charged with probation violation.

At 11:19 p.m. Brandon Patrick Rumley, 26, Greencastle was charged with bond revocation and trespassing.

* At 3:46 a.m. on Friday Morgan Christine Wood, 28, Greencastle, was booked in for operating while intoxicated.

Sheriff's Department

* At 9:52 a.m. on Friday, Gail L. Gross, 57, Greencastle, was traveling eastbound on County Road 500 North near U.S. 231 in a 2004 Chrysler Town and Country.

Gross told Deputy Ronnie Campbell that she believed she was farther away from a mailbox than she actually was and for unknown reasons she hit the mailbox and went into a ditch.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has responded to several recent dispatches.

* At 9:49 a.m. Saturday, GFD responded to an alarm at 415 S. Locust St. Investigation revealed the problem was due to cooking. Crews cleared the scene at 10:02 a.m.

At 2:08 p.m. firefighters investigated another alarm at 330 Greenwood Ave., again finding cooking to be the problem. They returned to station at 2:21 p.m.

* At 5:12 a.m. on Monday, responders investigated an alarm at 2000 S. Jackson St. Finding no problem, they returned to station at 5:45 a.m.

* At 6:29 a.m. Tuesday, GFD assisted Operation Life with a medical run at 2 N. Madison St., clearing the scene at 6:34 a.m.

At 9:34 a.m. firefighters assisted with a motor vehicle accident on South Manhattan Road, returning to station at 10:11 a.m.
