Bette Cornwell

Wednesday, June 5, 2013

Bette Cornwell, devoted wife and beloved mother and grandmother walked through heaven's gates early on the morning of Tuesday, June 4, 2013.

Born June 20, 1921 she was days away from celebrating her 92nd birthday. Bette was a devout Catholic and often spoke of the joy she would feel when finally she would be reunited with family and friends who had gone before her.

Bette was a professional woman working in the insurance sector before she met and eventually married her husband Paul. They started a family and her life as a wife and mother began and continued for the next 56 years.

Although she was known for her incredible cooking and baking skills, her greatest joy was that of her two children Scott and Dee Dee and her precious granddaughter Natalie. Her love of song and witty sense of humor will be greatly missed. Memories of Bette "with an e" will be thought about often by those who knew her.

Bette was preceded in death by her husband Paul Cornwell, mother Marie Rusko, father John Rusko, sister Gay (Jack) Cartwright, brother Emil Rusko and twin brother Lottie Rusko.

She is survived by her son Scott Cornwell, daughter Deidre (John) Colello, grandchildren Natalie (Joe) Hunt, Nicolas (Amy) Cornwell, JohnPaul Colello and great-grandchild Carter Cornwell.

A memorial service will be held for Bette on Friday, June 7 at 11 a.m. in Greencastle at St Paul's Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Waters of Greencastle 1601 Hospital Drive, Greencastle, IN and Horizon Hospice Care 252 Meadow Drive Danville, IN 46122. Their wonderful care and devotion to Bette will never be forgotten.
