County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* On Thursday at 10:15 a.m. Rebecca Marie Burnham, 28, Cloverdale was charged with possession of a syringe.

* On Thursday at 10:20 a.m. Christen Nicole Walton, 28, Cloverdale, was charged with possession of a handgun without a permit and a probation violation.

* On Friday at 5:35 a.m. Patrick Richard Oday, 36, Fallon, Nev., was charged with nonsupport of a dependent.

* On Thursday at 11:01 p.m. Jesse Lee Witt, 30, Greencastle was charged with possession of marijuana and bond revocation.

Sheriff's Department

* At 9:32 a.m. on Thursday Lori A. Peterson, 58, Coraopolis, Pa., was approaching the stoplight at Stardust Road and U.S. 231. Peterson, in a 1999 Nissan Pathfinder, stated to Deputy Ronnie Campbell, that she was adjusting her safety belt and her foot came off the break.

Peterson then bumped into Lisa K. Harrison, 29, Cloverdale, who was driving a 2011 Nissan 4S.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, Brandon L. Downing, 30, Greencastle, was traveling westbound on U.S.40 in a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser when Joshua A. Rady, 27, Reelsville pulled out in front of him in a 1998 Chevrolet S10 and was unable to avoid a collision.

Rady told Capt. Danny Wallace that he didn't see Downing.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

Rady was also charged with driving with a suspended license.

City Police

GPD Officer Jeff Modlin investigated a two-vehicle accident at Bloomington and Tennessee streets Thursday afternoon.

Jasmine Like, 21, Greencastle, was exiting the parking lot of Charlie's Chill and Grill in a 2002 Volkwagen. Kathleen Walker, 59, Greencastle, was southbound on Bloomington Street in a 2001 Chevrolet Tracker.

Like told Modlin she looked both ways before attempting to enter traffic and did not see Walker's vehicle approaching, pulling into her path of travel.

Walker said she saw Like's vehicle exiting the parking lot but did not have time to stop to avoid a collision.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

GPD officer have also issued four tickets recently.

* At 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Sgt. Charles Inman cited Diane Williams, 46, Greencastle, at Maple and Bloomington streets for out of date plates. The tags expired in December.

* At 11:22 p.m. on Wednesday, Officer Nick Eastham cited Mason Williams, 19, Bainbridge, for traveling 50 mph in a 30 mph zone on Bloomington Street.

* At 11:35 p.m., Eastham ticketed Meiang Xiao, 23, Federal Way, Wash., for traveling 51 mph in a 30 on Bloomington Street.

* At 1:40 a.m. Thursday, Eastham cited Matthew Kennedy, 32, Champaign, Ill., for traveling 50 mph in a 30 on Bloomington Street.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has responded to a pair of recent dispatches.

* At 5:51 p.m. Tuesday, firefighters assisted a citizen locked out of a house at 400 Longcastle Dr. They returned to station at 6:09 p.m.

* At 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, GFD responded to a natural gas leak at 620 E. Washington St. Workers installing new sidewalks had struck the service line. Crews remained on scene, closing the street an monitoring the area, until Vectren arrived and shut off the gas line.
