Brazil Concert Band to perform Sunday

The Brazil Concert Band, performing under the direction of Matthew S. Huber, will present "Kings, Cartoons and the Doubtful Wife" on Sunday. The event will go on rain or shine.

The Brazil Concert Band, under the direction of Matthew S. Huber, will perform "Kings, Cartoons And The Doubtful Wife" on Sunday, June 23 at the Forest Park Band Shell or Pavillion (if rain) beginning at 8 p.m.

This week marks the debut of the BCB Flute Choir performing "The Doubtful Wife," from "A Gaelic Offering," by Catherine McMichael.

The flutists are Shelley Criss, Janelle R. Huber, Jean Penry, Carol McClain, Betty Heine, Marcia Boswell, Doris Gambill, Joy Minor, Cheryl Thompson, Ruth Parker, Codie Jones and Carlie Schlatter.

From Europe, the entire BCB will present Ravel's "Bolero" and by Strauss, "Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks."

Lovers of classic cartoons will savor "Cartoon Carnival" with "Merrily We Roll Along", "Meet The Flintstones," "Jetsons," "Animaniacs," "This Is It!" and "The Merry Go Round Broke Down" in a Jack Bullock setting.

"Original Dixieland Concerto" offers a taste of New Orleans with "Jazz Me Blues," "Ballin' The Jack" and "Original Dixieland One-Step" by John Warrington and "Firehouse Rag" by Stephen Kent Goodman.

Marches that will get the blood flowing are "King Cotton" by Sousa, "Transcontinental" by Hughes, "Trumpets Of Splendor" by John Cacavas and Karl L. King's "The Trombone King."
