Mary Ellen Cummings

Mary Ellen Cummings, 80, Cloverdale, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Hendricks Regional Health, Danville.

She was born on April 2, 1933 in Cloverdale and was the daughter of the late Jesse Lawrence and Mary Cecile (Williams) Cox.

She was married to Dennis Eugene Cummings on Sept. 29, 1951 and he survives.

She is also survived by her children, Sandy Kennedy and husband Richard L. of Cloverdale, Karen Benell and husband Steve of Cicero and Tim Cummings and wife Barbara of Cloverdale; her brother Herman Cox and wife Betsy of Cloverdale; her son-in-law Tony Osborne of Cloverdale; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Cloverdale Church of Christ, a cook in the Cloverdale High School Cafeteria and a clerk at Cloverdale Drugs.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, June 24 at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, June 23 at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Cloverdale Cemetery.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Sue Osborne, her sisters, Marjorie Mae Cox and Betty Lou White and her brothers, Harold Cox and Howard Cox.
