County Jail

Several people were booked in to the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 3:23 p.m. on Friday, Desmond Lee Scales, 33, Greencastle, was booked in on a probation violation.

* At 8:42 p.m. on Friday, Joshua Ray Whelchel, 26, Poland, was charged with possession of marijuana.

* At 2:06 a.m. on Saturday, Charles Emion Myers, 43, Aiken, S.C., was charged with disorderly conduct disturbing the peace.

* At 10:36 p.m. on Saturday, Tammy Lynn Kintner, 41, Terre Haute, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

* At 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, Joshjuan Delane Flannagan, 25, Poland, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

* At 12:05 p.m. on Monday, Jeremy Scott Grayson, 29, Indianapolis, was charged with theft.

* At 1:40 p.m. on Monday, Ronald Allan Freeman, 62, Cloverdale, was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting law enforcement and intimidation.

* At 5:55 a.m. on Tuesday, Curtis Randal Harris, 37, was charged with visiting a common nuisance, possession of methamphetamines and paraphernalia.

* At 5:55 a.m. on Tuesday, Kevin Ryan Spurrier, 29, Stilesville, was charged with visiting a common nuisance, possession of methamphetamines and paraphernalia.

* At 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Trisha Lynn Spiker, 27, Cloverdale, was charged with possession of methamphetamines and paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance.

Sheriff's Department

* At 4:50 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, Randall L. Buege, 51, Beaver Dam, Wis., stated to Capt. Danny Wallace that he tried to turn onto County Road 750 East and the trailer on his 2007 Peterbilt TT left the roadway hitting the post.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 2:02 p.m. on Monday, June 17, Daniel A. Wessel, Oldenburg, was eastbound on U.S. 36 just west of Bridges Street in Bainbridge in a 2011 Dodge Ram.

For unknown reasons Joyce Massingill, 49, Roachdale, had slowed down quickly and was hit by Wessel.

Having nowhere to go Massingill went into the field on the south side of the roadway then back across U.S. 36 and off the north side of the road, coming to a stop between several pine trees.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 4:26 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, Beth A. Gillenwater, 52, Poland, was driving on U.S. 231 South near Robert Weist Street in Cloverdale in a 2010 Dodge Journey.

Gillenwater stated to Wallace that she didn't see Alma J. Evans, 69, Quincy, pulling over to the right side of the road and hit her 2011 Volkswagon Jetta.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 2:14 p.m. on Friday, Terry L. Jones, 57, Rosedale, had a right front tire blow out on his 2000 Sterling 951 dump truck on U.S. 36 West.

Jones stated to Wallace that after the tire blew out, he proceeded to hit a guardrail.

Damage was estimated at $10,000-$25,000.

* At 6:55 p.m. on Friday, Chrystal J. Rogers, 36, Cloverdale, was eastbound on County Road 675 South in a 2002 Honda Civic when she struck a deer.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 8:19 p.m. on Friday, Nicholas A. Hathorn, 20, Poland, stated to Lt. Dwight Simmons that he was making a left turn on to U.S. 231 northbound from County Road 1000 South.

Hathorn said he pulled his 1996 Dodge Stratus into the path of Kenneth L. Burgin, 66, Martinsville, causing both vehicles to collide.

The passenger, Diana Rae Muttart, Martinsville, was thrown from the 2002 Honda GL 1800 causing several abrasions and small lacerations.

Both Burgin and Muttart were transported via Operation Life to Putnam County Hospital where they received treatment for minor injuries.

Cloverdale Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 10:26 a.m. on Saturday, Robert J. Williams, 60, Alton, Ill. was eastbound on Interstate 70 on a 2004 Honda GL 1800, just west of the 44 mile marker.

Williams stated to Deputy Ronnie Campbell that he was trying to clean his windshield and lost control of his motorcycle.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 8:14 p.m. on Saturday, Tammy L. Kintner, 41, Terre Haute, was stopped on State Road 243 by the Sheriff's Department for a traffic stop.

Kintner proceeded to hit the parked 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe, owned by the Sheriff's Department, while backing out of the roadway in her 1996 Toyota Tacoma.

Her blood-alcohol content was greater than .08.

Damage was estimated under $1,001.

* At 3:11 a.m. on Sunday, Amilia N. Nicholson, 19, Cloverdale, was turning around in the parking lot at 1017 N. Main St. when she struck a light pole with the right-front part of her 1999 Chevrolet Venture.

Nicholson stated to Lt. Dwight Simmons that her brakes failed when she attempted to avoid the pole, although the plastic covering in the front passenger window possibly obscured her view.

Nicholson was then transported to Putnam County Hospital via Operation Life for complaint of neck pain.

Cloverdale Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
