Town pays off water system

Thursday, June 27, 2013

The Russellville Town Council approved the final payment for the water system at Tuesday's town meeting.

The last payment for the town water system of $1,425 was approved by the council, this is the end of the water systems project that has been going on since October.

Russellville Clerk-Treasurer Devon Davis reminded the council that the company still owed the town two water meters and three freeze plates to replace the ones that had been repaired and never returned.

The town council also discussed the issue of the Putnam County Health Department being called to town due to a condemned house that had been contaminated by raw sewage.

The issue has been taken care of and the sewage department was asked to notify the water department when sewage systems had been stopped to avoid situations like this in the future.

Davis will also be sending out letters to town residents that have abandoned vehicles on their property. The town council came to this decision after President Don Reddish brought to the attention to the board that the abandon lumber yard had several unlicensed and abandon vehicles on the property.

The town will be trying to contact the owner of the property to see what can be done about it.

Russellville will hold its next town council meeting on Monday, July 15 at 7 p.m.
