Leatrice May Curtis, 86, of Greencastle, and formerly of Terre Haute, and Naples, Fla., passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2013.

She was born on Aug. 28, 1926 in Owen County to Boyd and Marie Close.

On June 4, 1945, she married her childhood sweetheart, Robert Nelson Curtis, who preceded her in death.

During her husband's illness in the early years of their marriage, she was employed by the American Can Company, Quaker Maid Industries and Columbia Records, all located in Terre Haute. After his recovery, Leatrice became a full-time homemaker.

She was a member of the Second Christian Church of Terre Haute, where she was baptized on March 24, 1979.

Mrs. Curtis was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Adeline Hilburn of Greencastle; two brothers, Austin "Bud" Close of San Pedro, Calif., and David Close of Phoenix; and a granddaughter, Dana Anne Shields of Terre Haute.

She is survived by her sister, Edra Kitchen of Indianapolis; her son, Gary Nelson Curtis of Greencastle; her daughter, Judith Curtis Brown and husband Paul D. of Greencastle; a granddaughter, Diana Jean Miller and husband Jeffrey of Pueblo, Colo.; a great-granddaughter Morgan Mills of Terre Haute; a great-grandson, Draik Beauchamp of Knoxville, Tenn.; a great-granddaughter, Emma Jean Miller of Pueblo; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2 at Roselawn Memorial Park, 7500 N. Clinton St., Terre Haute, with Rev. Dr. P.T. Wilson officiating.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
