County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail on Tuesday.

* At 12:10 p.m. April Dawn Wilson-Witt, 32, Reelsville was charged with violation of home detention.

* At 9:33 p.m. Charlene Sue Custis, 60, Greencastle, was charged with domestic battery and disorderly conduct.

* At 6:10 p.m. Drew Michael Evens, 23, Greencastle, was charged with failure to appear.

* At 8:56 p.m. Kristi Jo Lewis, 51, Fillmore, was charged with two counts of possession of marijuana.

Sheriff's Department

* At 12:20 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, Jimmie R. Heller, 64, Greencastle, was backing up his 1988 Chevrolet S10 in a yard and didn't notice a parked 2000 Ford F350 to the side of him.

Heller stated to Capt. Danny Wallace that he backed into the vehicle, which was owned by Cody Heller, Fillmore.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 11:10 p.m. on Sunday, Nadine M. French, 52, Shelburne Ontario, was eastbound on Interstate 70 when she encountered a tree in the travel lane.

French stated to Lt. Dwight Simmons that she had no time to react and struck the tree with the front of her 2009 Nissan Xterra. The vehicle sustained minimal damage.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Jaccob A. Truax, 18, Crawfordsville, was westbound on State Road 236 from U.S. 231 when he observed a deer in the roadway.

Truax stated to Lt. Dwight Simmons that he swerved to the left to avoid the animal and the 1983 Ford Mustang GLX left the roadway traveling down an embankment where it struck a fence.

The vehicle sustained minimal damage and was impounded due to an expired registration plate.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.
