Auditions for 'Harvey' set at Putnam County Playhouse

Director Jim Rambo will conduct two sessions of auditions for the classic comedy "Harvey" to be staged this September at the Putnam County Playhouse.

The first tryouts will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 21 with a second session of auditions to be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, July 22.

Both sessions will be in the rehearsal center at the Hazel Day Longden Theatre om Round Barn Road in Greencastle.

The show will be produced Sept. 12-14 and Sept.18-21.

Roles available in the Mary Chase comedy classic include Elwood P. Dowd, a friendly eccentric with a six-foot tall invisible rabbit for a best friend; Veta Louise Simmons, his sister, a society woman worried about her standing; Myrtle Mae Simmons, her daughter; and the staff of the sanitarium where Elwood is sent, Dr. William Chumley, Dr. Lyman Sanderson and Nurse Ruth Kelly.

Smaller parts include a few party guests, a cab driver, a male nurse and a maid. All roles include lines.
