Charles Floyd Broadstreet

Charles Floyd Broadstreet was born on June 7, 1923 in Jefferson Twp., Putnam County, to James Martin Broadstreet and Clova Esta Hurst Broadstreet, the youngest of five children.

A 1941 graduate of Belle Union High School, he briefly attended Central Normal College in Danville.

Charles married Melba Jean Siddons on March 5, 1944 in Plainfield, and just this year celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.

His lifelong occupation was farming, specifically hogs and grain. He was very successful and gifted with many skills and known throughout Putnam County for basketball -- he attended all of his own son's games.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Kenneth Frank and Lowell F., and two sisters, Norma and Helen (infant). Also one special pet, a rat terrier, Buddy.

Along with his wife, he is survived by three sons, Gary B. (Carolyn), Daniel A. and Jeffrey L. (Nancy Moon) Broadstreet; one daughter, Pamela (Rich) Broadstreet Wright; six grandchildren, Bruce Broadstreet, Stephanie (John) Lopossa, Stacy (Michael) Miller, Sandra McCullough, Christina Broadstreet and Richard (Suzette) Wright; and seven great-grandchildren.

Charles was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 27 at the Bousley-Hays Funeral Home, Coatesville, with calling from noon until of service.
