Stephen J. Worthington

Stephen J. Worthington, 52, Cloverdale, passed away on July 27, 2013 at Putnam County Hospital, Greencastle.

He was born on Feb. 26, 1961 at Clearwater, Fla., and was the son of Warren and Mary (Klinefelter) Worthington.

He moved to Cloverdale in 1975 and graduated from South Putnam High School in 1979.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1981 to 1996, retiring at the rank of Petty Officer, 1st Class.

He completed an Associate's Degree from Seminole Community College in Orlando, Fla.

Stephen is survived by his mother, Mary Worthington; his brothers, Matthew Worthington and wife Renee and Peter Worthington and wife Angela, his niece, Laura, and nephew, Christopher, and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Warren Worthington.

Stephen loved music, tennis and caring for animals. He was a friend who was loving, caring and helpful. He will be missed by all.

Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2 at the Cloverdale Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2 at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.
