Committee gearing up for Sixth Annual National Night Out

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

For its sixth year the National Night Out event will bring the youth of Putnam County school supplies and information about county programs on Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 5-8 p.m. at Robe-Ann Park.

This year's event will give area students and families a night out to get supplies for this upcoming school year. The National Night Out Committee has purchased more than $1,500 worth of school supplies to hand out to students this year.

Registration for the event will start around 5 p.m. Students and families must register at the event to collect school supplies and participate in activities.

With help from many local organizations the event will feature giveaways, free swimming and free refreshments for students and their families. Refreshments will include snow cones, pizza, hot dog, apples and bananas.

The event will highlight many on Putnam County's law enforcement, social services efforts and public service that help support youth in the community.

Different activities will be offered at booths around the picnic area by the pool at Robe-Ann Park. One of the activities this year will be the Rookie Run, were children will be able to participate in a run around the park with local law enforcement running alongside them.

All are welcome to attend the National Night Out event.
