Local ballplayers reach American Legion state tournament

Several athletes from North Putnam High School have helped lead their American Legion team to the Indiana State Tournament.

Graduates in 2012 Kyler Badten, Brody Perrine and Jake Haste, along with senior Kaleb Belcher, have helped the Crawfordsville Post 72 team through the Lafayette Regional.

Belcher, a catcher, leads the team at the plate with a .429 average and Badten leads them in the field at shortstop.

The team begins its state championship chase in St. Leon today at 4 p.m.
