Cloverdale siblings excel at soapbox World Championship

AKRON, Ohio -- Nick and Lauren Zimmerman had top-ten finishes at the World Championship Soapbox Derby races in Akron, Ohio recently.

Lauren, a fourth-grader at Cloverdale, finished third in the stock division. Nick, a sophomore at Cloverdale High School, finished seventh in the masters division.

Nick was world champion in the Super Stock race in 2012.

Lauren's third-place finish included college scholarship money.

The siblings each won the local Indianapolis Championships in their divisions.

At the world championship event more than 600 derby cars from all over the world competed in six divisions.
