Putnam County youth help gather food for a cause

Earlier this summer the oldest members of Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department's S.P.A.R.K. Program, the Purple Group, continued to learn about service to the community. The group received information on the purpose of the Putnam County Emergency Food Pantry and how, who, when and why people can use that service. Request were passed out to the S.P.A.R.K. youth on Wednesday and Friday of their last week to bring a canned good or non-perishable food item to be donated to the Putnam County Emergency Food Pantry. The group delivered 129 items to the Putnam County Emergency Food Pantry, with the anticipation of more items to be received later The Purple Group also received a tour of the facility and learned how the food is sorted and distributed.
