Irwin Ray Evens, 91, of Noblesville, passed away Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013.

He was born Aug. 27, 1921 in Greencastle to the late Ray A. and Wilma L. Irwin Evens.

Irwin received his bachelor's degree from Purdue University and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received a Silver Star when he fought in France and Germany.

Irwin was the owner of Evens Time Inc., and was an elder at Franklin Road Church of Christ for 34 years. Irwin was a member of the Eastside Exchange Club and most recently a member of the Southeastern Church of Christ.

He was an avid Pacers and Purdue basketball fan and enjoyed working and spending time with his family.

Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 8 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St., Indianapolis.

Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

Irwin is survived by his loving children, Linda Wesolowski (Raymond), Sandra Nicholson (Melvin) and Kenneth Evens (Cheryl); sister Marlene Masten; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Irwin was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Marian Evens, and second wife, Blanche Evens; brothers Norman and Marvin Evens; and sister Loretta Stansbury.
