Roachdale Library marks 100 years

Monday, August 5, 2013
Celebrating its 100th anniversary with a birthday party, the Roachdale Library goes all out for the occasion. The first hundred years was celebrated with cake, punch and history. A 1912 notebook from the library was on display, letting guests read how the library was brought together years ago. The icing on the cake, meanwhile, was the use of book covers -- such as "the Patchwork Girl of Oz" by L. Frank Baum -- to help mark the library's centennial occasion. On hand for the celebration Tuesday afternoon were (from left) Library Director Debbie Keffer, Rachel Fenton, Vicki Windmiller, Kara Magill and Janet Stafford.

  • What a great celebration to have. 100 years of greatness. I have this 3 digit number still stuck in my head for some 50 years now. So many nice people have staffed the library over the years.

Thanks to all for your hard work.

  • I loved that library growing up, I spent many days just sitting in there and reading. Loved the smell of all those books! And sitting on the front steps. :)
