Silent auction fundraiser set Saturday at Moose Lodge for GHS football

Thursday, August 8, 2013

The Greencastle High School silent auction football fundraiser is set for 6-10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 at the Moose Lodge, 212 W. Franklin St.

This will be the third year for the silent auction fundraiser.

Budget cutbacks at the school have made it hard for the athletic teams to receive funding for their sport. The cost of a single varsity football helmet is now more than $250 and the team has more than 50 players this year.

That's $12,500 just for helmets.

With the cost of suiting up a player from top to bottom, the money raised from this event goes directly to the football team to help purchase the equipment needed to keep the young men healthy and safe.

The Tiger Cubs are coming off of an 11-1 season and are expected to be even stronger this year. Please consider attending this event, it will provide an opportunity to meet Tiger Cub head coach Josh Buis and his staff, and to network with Tiger Cub parents and fans.

Admission is $5 per person at the door (must be 21 years or older to attend). There will be more than 50 items to bid on.

Catering is being provided by Big Country BBQ.

The local band War Radio will be playing from 7-10 p.m.

Any questions may be directed to Michelle Gierke 721-7680.
