Brazil Concert Band to perform Sunday

Friday, August 16, 2013

BRAZIL -- The Brazil Concert Band, under the direction of Matthew S. Huber, will present "Enchanted Night" Sunday, Aug. 18 in Forest Park, rain or shine starting at 8 p.m.

"Enchanted Night" is a circus waltz by Karl L. King, which will join his two-step "The Walking Frog" and "Diamond Jubilee," a medley representing King's most famous marches.

A little known work by Richard Rodgers, "The Regents March," will make its debut with the BCB along with an unusual march by Indiana's own Red Skelton entitled "Red's White and Blue March."

Longtime Brazil Concert Band member Jim Chesterson will solo on "A Trumpeter's Prayer" by Camarata-Swayzee. Chesterson is retired from the Indiana Air National Guard and plays in several bands in the Wabash Valley.

Also on the play list this week are "A Walking Tune" by Grundman, "The Triton" by Sousa, "There's Nothing Wrong In La-La Land" by Goodman and an overture "The Cloth of Gold" and "Quality-plus" both by Fred Jewell.

The band's "Grand Finale 2013" will take place on Sunday, Aug. 25 at the special time of 7:30 p.m.
