South Putnam shows visible change in golf loss at North Montgomery

Friday, August 16, 2013

Led by senior Kyndra Boyce, the South Putnam girls' golf team improved to a four-player team score of 217 on Thursday.

The leaps weren't enough to get the win as the Eagles lost to host North Montgomery, which finished at 202 at the nine-hole event at Rocky Ridge Golf Course.

Boyce's 47 led the Eagles and was second-overall at the event.

"We improved 24 strokes over the Eagle Invitational tournament (last week)," new SPHS coach Gloria Curtis said. "The ladies are working hard and looking for more improvement in the future."

Junior Allacyn Arnold shot a 51 for SPHS, senior Clair Perry a 58 and junior Carlee Schlatter a 61. Freshman Alicia Haywood rounded out the scoring with a 70.

The Eagles return to the course on Monday against Cloverdale at Clover Meadows at 4 p.m.
