CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale girls' golf team played its second match of the season on Thursday and shot a 219, which was good enough for second place in the three-team event at Clover Meadows.

Northview, with a four-player score of 193, won the nine-hole event. Linton shot 249 and took third.

"It was great to see our team score improve by seven strokes from just a week ago," Cloverdale coach Matthew Langdon said.

The Clovers were led by Makayla Moore, who finished the back nine at 50.

Anna Spencer and Harlee Fuetter each finished at 55, Abbie Speas at 59, Izzy Wardlow at 62 and Kelsey Nees at 68.

"We had a nice performance from freshman Abbie Speas, who shot a career-low," Langdon said. "We are getting some consistent scores from our top three: Makayla Moore, Harlee Fuetter and Anna Spencer. We are also seeing some nice improvements from others."

Overall medalist was Northview's Keirsten Mikesell, who shot a 42.

The Clovers will continue their season on Monday when they travel to Oak Ridge Golf Course to compete in a dual meet against the South Putnam Eagles, beginning at 4 p.m.
