Robert E. Cooper, 80, of Brownsburg, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013.

He was born on Aug. 24, 1932 in Greencastle, to parents Clarence Arthur and Violet Mae (Alexander) Cooper.

Mr. Cooper graduated from Greencastle High School in 1950.

He worked for G. C. Murphy Co. while he was in school until he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1952. After basic training he served three years in Germany. He received an honorable discharge in 1956.

Upon returning, he was employed at General Motors Plant 1 in Speedway. He worked there for many years, retiring from EDS in 1996.

Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clarence Arthur Jr. and William (Bill) and sister-in-law Betty Jean Cooper.

He married Marie Wells on June 16, 1957.

He is survived by his wife; son Gregory Cooper; daughters Jennifer Ross of Frisco, Texas, and Cynthia (JR) Cook of Plainfield; grandchildren John Ross of Indianapolis, Janice Ross of Frisco, Texas, Mara Pollack of Avon, Kaylie, Morgan and Jordan Cook of Plainfield; great-grandchildren Jackson Cooper Ross of Frisco, Texas, and Layla Pollack of Avon; sister Carolyn Sue (Bill) Brown of Brownsburg; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Aug. 23 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with funeral services scheduled there at noon.

A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. Friday in Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
