Blood drive Friday slated in honor of little Jace Wagner

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

In honor of a Putnam County infant, a community blood drive will be hosted Friday, Aug. 23 at the Heather Taylor State Farm Insurance office in Greencastle.

The Bloodmobile will be located on site in the parking lot at 1285 S. Jackson St., Suite C, Greencastle (just south of Veterans Memorial Highway), from 2-7 p.m. Friday.

Young Jace Wagner is a little older than six months and must undergo a serious operation on his skull.

He is the son of local residents Ashley and Jacob Wagner. Ashley serves our country in the National Guard and Jacob is employed at Crown Equipment Co. in Greencastle.

Jace's operation will last around eight hours and during that time he will need a blood transfusion. The surgery may not be the only one he needs to undergo, and it is unknown how much blood his little body could require.

The outlook is positive but all blood donations and words of support to his family are appreciated. Donors need to remember to bring a photo ID.

To reserve a timeslot to give, persons may go online to www.donorpoint.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/78874.
