CLOVERDALE -- Challenging heat made a cross-county clash between the South Putnam and Cloverdale girls' golf teams unpleasant, but the Eagles battled through the fumes to come away with a win, finishing at a season low 215 to best the Clovers' 228 at Clover Meadows on Monday.

Senior Kyndra Boyce led the Eagles with a 46. Alicia Haywood finished with a career-best 55, Clair Perry and Allacyn Arnold each shot 57 and Carlee Schlatter shot 62.

"The girls are working hard and it's showing," SPHS coach Gloria Curtis said.

"Team score-wise we had a little bit of an off night," CHS coach Matthew Langdon said. "But I told the girls we get to quickly forget about tonight and look forward to having a better meet (on Tuesday) night."

The Clovers played at Crawfordsville on Tuesday. Their next match is Monday at Owen Valley at 4:30 p.m.

The Eagles host Southmont on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
