Some of the history of Putnam County is currently on display at Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann's office in Indianapolis. The various artifacts, products and memorabilia showcasing the county will remain on display in the custom-made cabinet until Friday, Aug. 31.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann recently welcomed Putnam County to her office to display memorabilia that represents the county in the front display cabinet in her executive office in the Indiana Statehouse.
Donated by the Indiana Hardwoods Association, the glass-paneled oak cabinet was built by Jasper Cabinet and given to the Lt. Governor's Office to showcase Indiana products and memorabilia.

Putnam County displayed items that range from local products made in Putnam County, to old photos, glass Coca-Cola bottles and books on the history of the county.

"Every county in Indiana is unique and I'm thankful to Putnam County for sharing treasures from their community with visitors to my office," Ellspermann said. "I enjoy seeing the displays from each community and how they also connect with Hoosiers statewide."

The Putnam County display was posted on Monday, Aug. 12 and will remain up until Friday, Aug. 30.

More opportunities will be available for communities to display their memorabilia in the Lt. Governor's front office in the coming year. The displays are rotated to educate the thousands of visitors who tour the Statehouse and Lt. Governor's Office annually.
