Harold L. Greene, 80, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013.

Born December 6, 1932 in Parke County, he was the son of Robert R. and Mary (Deplanty) Greene and was a 1950 graduate of Bellmore High School.

He was a veteran of the United States Army. He married Florence (Sharer) Greene and she preceded him in death on Oct. 10, 2002.

Harold retired on Jan. 1, 1985 from Detroit Diesel Allison in Indianapolis. He and his wife had owned and operated the BonTon Diner in Bainbridge and the Short Stop and the Brass Lantern in Rockville.

He was a member of Moose Lodge and the American Legion.

Survivors include his children, Harold A. (Vicky) Greene of Greenwood, Vicki (Eric Thompson) Mason of Crawfordsville, Rodney (Lisa) Greene of Covington, Scott (Charlotte) Sharer of North Salem and Becky Ward of St. Louis; a sister, Betty Thomas; brothers Russell (Joanne) Greene, Robert E. (Catherine) Greene, Ernest (Nola) Greene and Jackie (Glenda) Greene; companion Millicent Harney; eight grandchildren, Jamie Tennis, Joshua Mason, Alison Briles, Michelle Williams, Rose Sharer, Eric Sharer, Jeremy Greene and Cody Boswell; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, son Mark Greene, brother Raymond Greene and sister Frances "Sis" Greene.

Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29 at the Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the Brick Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
